Margaret Wood is the Waikato Field Worker. Margaret brings many years experience with ASD both in New Zealand and internationally and is looking forward to the challenge that this busy role will bring.

Fran Greenfield, who has worked through this period of recess will be familiar to many of you and will be continuing her work as the TAYAG and Holiday Programme Group Coordinator.

Upcoming Events:

EINSTIEN’S THINK DIFFERENTLY!  INTERSCHOOL COMPETITION
Each Hamilton School is invited to participate in Einstein Think Differently! This coincides with Autism Awareness Week. Each Class or School is invited to enter the competition to create a structure that represents “thinking differently” from whatever medium they choose.  Entries will be judged by independent judges and will be displayed for schools and public viewing for the Waikato public to see what it means to THINK DIFFERENTLY. Watch this space for more details!

Workshops

Autism NZ Inc Waikato Branch currently offers the following Groups:

Tayag:
Meets fortnightly on a Wednesday evening, beginning 15th February from 7-9pm.

Aspergers Group:
20+year olds meet monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning 14th February 1-3pm.

New Beginnings:
For parents, grandparents or wider family who are new to Autism/Aspergers. This group will meet fortnightly over a six session cycle. This starts on Monday 13th February 10am-12noon.

My Kids at School Day Group:
For those parents who have primary, intermediate or secondary school children. This group meets on the last Wednesday morning of each month from 10-12noon. This group begins on Wednesday 29th February 2012.

My Kids at School:
For those parents who have primary, intermediate or secondary school children. This group meets on the last Wednesday night of each month from 7-9pm.

New Transitions:
For those parents who are facing the challenges of transition from high school to work, independent living, etc. This group will meet on the 3rd Monday night of each month 7-9pm beginning 20th February 2012.
