From Oamaru in the South to Kaikoura in the North; from Greymouth in the West to Christchurch and Akaroa in the East; Autism New Zealand Canterbury & West Coast Branch is here to help you manage your experience of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Whilst we can not be on the ground in each and every location, our team in Christchurch will do their best to support you and your families or organisations as much as we can. We are here to help, and guide you as much as we can through your experience through knowledge, development and opportunities.

Monday to Friday: 9am – 3.30pm
All of the Autism New Zealand Canterbury Branch staff are employed on a part-time basis, with roles requiring staff going out into the field from time to time. Therefore the offices may not always be staffed during these times so please call first to ensure somebody will be in.

At present the Canterbury/West Coast Branch are able to offer the following activities in Christchurch: Ten-Pin Bowling, Clip ‘n’ Climb at the Roxx and Badminton. Please click here for more information on these activities.
Special Olympics are able to assist further with a range of activities including Bocce, Horse Riding, Ice Skating plus many more (all of these activities do have a small cost).
Information, Presentations & Professional Development Available:
Our Outreach Coordinator or Regional Educator is available to visit your organisation, school, preschool, community centre, residential home or anyone who works with, or has an interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders, to:
- provide Professional Development – this might include an overview of “what is Autism”, behaviours associated with Autism and some basic management strategies
- to talk about Autism and how it manifests and what this might mean for your situation
- provide information about Autism New Zealand and the work we do
Any presentation would be tailored to meet the needs of your group. While providing key information we work collaboratively to support the best possible outcomes for those with ASD and their community.

Autism New Zealand Canterbury and West Coast Branch have created an area aimed specifically at Teenagers and Young Adults.
