I am wanting to find an ASD friendly psychiatrist, my current one doesn't understand ASD and it gets so annoying.

RE: Auckland Branch Disestablishment

This memo is to advise you the Board of Autism New Zealand Incorporated held a special meeting on 14th September 2009 and resolved after much discussion to disestablish the Auckland Branch Committee under Rule 4.1 of the Rules of the Society.
For some time now Auckland Committee has been expanding into new areas of working with families with children with ASD. This has now reached a point of difference where families in Auckland will be better served by having a clear delineation between what Autism New Zealand provides and the path the recent committee wish to follow.
Autism New Zealand provides information and support to families/whanau and those working with people with ASD. The Board is aware that many new services are being offered and believes that families have a right to information that enables them to make their own choices. The Board however cannot endorse any services that are not yet fully recognised as having a significantly positive impact by the research community both here and overseas.
Please be advised that Autism New Zealand will continue to honour all contracts and will be working closely with the committee and the staff in Auckland to ensure a smooth transition.
The Board will appoint a new committee in the very near future. In the interim the Board will take over the governance role. The Board will be seeking nominations for members of a new committee in November and will keep you informed over this period.
